A variety of partnership opportunities allow this year’s group of 65 to be divided into four locations—a group of thirty traveling to Senegal, West Africa led by Ward Kriegbaum (‘64), a group of fifteen to South Africa led by Jeff Peltz (’81), a group of ten to Guinea, West Africa led by Jon Shuptar (‘05), and a group of ten to Mauritania, West Africa led by Gary LaVanchy (’98).

Guinea: This group will be working with Caleb Campbell (’98) and his wife Shannon in Kankan.  The team will be doing outreach through sports and conversation at the local university and will be presenting lectures in several of the university classes.

Mauritania: This group of ten will be working with Jeremy Clark (’99).  He and his wife Stephanie  (’99) work with International Development & Educational Associates (IDEAS) and run several initiatives including a program for handicapped children and a fitness gym.

Senegal: A WFMP team has traveled to Senegal six of the last seven years and will again work with Rodney Duttweiler (’87) and his wife Kathy.   Rodney serves as both the Area Director for Africa and the Field Team Leader in Senegal for United World Mission (UWM).  Specifically, the WFMP team will be working on construction & landscaping projects at a conference center operated by UWM and assisting several local missionary agencies in outreach and discipleship through sports and chapels.

South Africa: A group of fifteen will be traveling to Loskop, South Africa to work with John David Borgman (’64) his wife Barbara.   By the inspiration of Jesus’ teachings and ministry, they are promoting a community of reconciliation and providing compassionate care for orphaned and abandoned children from HIV/AIDS.  The WFMP team will be renovating rooms at the orphanage and will also be engaging in outreach within the local black township.
